During my time at Flagler College I was fortunate enough to have access to their radio station facility. WFCF 88.5 is Flagler’s own radio station, operated by students and volunteers from the local community. I first trained as a co-host on “Shay’s Rebellion”, a weekly program which aired Thursday mornings from 7am to 9am during the College Rock Block. This is when I was named “DJ Nay Nay”, a nod to the dance move “nae nae” which was popular at the time. How clever. The following semester a friend (DJ Tay) and I produced our own program called “Moon Tunes”, which aired 9:30pm to 11pm and featured mostly alternative and indie rock, some pop, and a the occasional throwback hit. We (DJ Nay Nay and DJ Tay) then got a spot back on the College Rock Block with a 7am-9am slot on Tuesday mornings where we produced “Tunes and Trivia”. This program featured the top alternative and pop hits, with trivia about current events and pop culture during the breaks.
In addition to being on air with WFCF, I produced a 30 second spot for an advertising class in which I proposed a new campaign for Nokia. The campaign was called “New Nokia”.
